Audiences are being offered a royal invitation to new comedy musical the Crown Jewels as it heads out on its first UK tour.
The show, which is coming to the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, is a who’s who of famous faces, starring Al Murray and Mel Giedroyc – to name just a few.
The new caper, which comes to Kent direct from London’s West End, follows an unlikely gang of misfits as they plan to get away with the ultimate heist and steal the Crown Jewels in broad daylight.
Comedian and Pub Landlord Al Murray plays King Charles II alongside former Great British Bake Off presenter Mel Giedroyc as Mrs Edwards.
The comedy duo will lead an ensemble cast, including Inbetweeners and Fresh Meat actor Joe Thomas and Neil Morrissey, who is best known for appearing in ‘90s sitcom Men Behaving Badly.
They are joined by West End favourite Carrie Hope Fletcher.
The musical theatre actress is known for appearing in stage shows such as Les Misérables, Heathers, the Addams Family and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella.
Carrie will be returning to the Marlowe Theatre stage for the first time since making her panto debut last Christmas in Sleeping Beauty, playing villain Carabosse.
However, the singer - who is also known for writing novels and her social media posts, in which she often appears alongside brother and McFly band member Tom Fletcher - has visited the city much more recently.
She revealed on Instagram this summer that she and her husband, fellow theatre star Joel Montague, celebrated their wedding at Marleybrook House in Preston, a village on the outskirts of Canterbury.
The pair also announced earlier this month that they are expecting their first child in February 2024.
The star-studded cast will be performing a script written by BAFTA Award winner Simon Nye, who also worked on Men Behaving Badly, and directed by multi-Olivier Award winner Sean Foley.
The Crown Jewels will be at the Marlowe Theatre from Monday, September 25 to Saturday, September 30. You can book tickets online here.
