Go retro at Mount Ephraim Gardens' A Gloriously Vintage Day Out on Sunday, May 11

Child of the seventies Julia Woodcock has created a family day out this Sunday based on all the best bits of the past.

Vintage enthusiast Julia, 39, loves not only the fashions and fittings of the Seventies, which remind her of the happy days of childhood, but also the glamour and grit of forties war-era memorabilia.

It was only a matter of time before her passion for all things retro – which came to the fore after the sad loss of her mother in 2007 and a wish to remember the good old days – went public.

There will be fun for all the family at Mount Ephraim

A teacher by day, Julia, from Hernhill near Faversham, launched the first Gloriously Vintage Day Out at Mount Ephraim Gardens last year, with no idea what the take-up would be.

“It was a phenomenal success with about 1,200 people visiting, we didn’t expect that at all!” she remembers.

This year she’s back with an even bigger event, having joined forces with her classroom teaching assistant and fellow fan of all things vintage Debbie Norton, who has connections on the farmer’s market scene having traded in the past at Brogdale Farm.

“Debbie is an experienced events organiser who’ll be bringing her favourite foodies from across the county with their Kentish produce.

“We’ve created a very full day out, so families can dig the wicker picnic basket out, fill it up and head out for a great days with the kids. Music and entertainment for adults and children is a big part of the event, so we promise vintage fun for everybody.”
