From a spot of antiquing, to communing with nature - if you want to get away from it all, there’s lots to take your mind off current affairs in the Maidstone area.
The talk will be fast and furious at Maidstone Market Hall in Lockmeadow on polling morning – but it won’t be about the election result.
Head to the hall from as early as 8am for the chance to view one of the regular furniture auctions held there, one of which was filmed for the BBC’s Antiques Road Trip. The quick-fire bidding starts at 10am.
The auctions are held every Thursday at the hall. For details visit http://www.lockmeadowentertainment.co.uk/concessions/maidstone-market-8
Once you’ve had a browse, and possibly snapped up a bargain, head for Mote Park, the picturesque jewel in the County Town’s crown.
There’s 180 hectares of parkland to lose yourself in, with a children’s play area, café, and public fitness equipment next to the play area, if you want to loosen up.
If you want something more than a leisurely stroll, head for the watersports centre next to the lake, where you can try sailing, rowing, kayaks or swan pedaloes. For details visit http://moteparkwatersportscentre.com/
Once you’ve been at one with nature at the park, why not try Running Up That Hill with the sounds of Kate Bush at nearby Hazlitt Theatre?
Cloudbusting, a show featuring intricate and authentic arrangements of the singer’s hits from Wuthering Heights to Babooshka is staged at the Earl Street theatre tonight at 7.30pm. To book tickets, priced £18 of £17, plus a £1 booking fee, visit http://www.parkwoodtheatres.co.uk/theatre
