If you want to keep your little soldiers in line this summer, there’s a new outdoor attraction which could put them through their paces.
Costumed characters will be bringing Dover Castle’s history to life at weekends throughout the summer holidays in the castle grounds.
Step back to 1940 when Dover was on the front line of the Second World War and meet Vice Admiral Ramsay to find out about his top secret mission, before encountering men and women experiencing those dangerous times – each of them with a gripping story to tell.
There’s also a Summer Explorer Quest visitors can follow through the castle grounds, to track down the clues and try to crack them to claim an adventurer’s certificate.
Plus roam through centuries of history at Dover Castle, from the Romans to the Second World War, in an action-packed day out. Stand on top of the iconic White Cliffs and discover the castle’s vital role in two world wars, including the Evacuation of Dunkirk. Take in the glorious sight of King Henry II’s mighty medieval Great Tower and marvel at its recreated rooms, and view across the English channel.
There are acres of wide open castle grounds to explore too.
Dover Castle reopened alongside more than 40 other English Heritage properties in the UK at the beginning of July, with new measures including limited visitor numbers and booking in advance.
