When we take a trip to the seaside, we usually get an urge to enjoy some fish and chips, or grab an ice cream. But for Kent artist Jason Robbins, he gets inspired to paint – and he does with some style.

Artwork by Ramsgate artist Jason Robbins

The Cornwall-born artist is inspired by the extreme natural light and dark our coastline offers, the incredible sunsets and rugged coasts, and the ports and harbours of Kent.

He works in a semi-abstract style and examples of his are now on show at the York Street Gallery in Ramsgate, until Wednesday, November 26.

From figurative scenes of the Thanet towns or further afield, he always tries to capture the essence of his location within the county.

The gallery is open seven days a week, Monday 9.30am to noon, Tuesday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm, from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.
