Film critic Barry Norman will introduce a special Philharmonia at the Movies: Sci-Fi concert.

The Philharmonia Orchestra presents a programme of music from some of cinema’s most popular science fiction movies at Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre on Friday, November 21.

Barry Norman will guide the audience through the music. The critic’s career spans more than 50 years, during which he wrote newspaper columns and presented BBC and ITV shows. Barry’s most notable achievement was being the regular host of the BBC Film programme, starting in 1972 with Film 72, which he continued to present until 1998.

The films covered by Philharmonia at the Movies: Sci-Fi range from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) to Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013). It features music from some of the great film composers, including John Williams (Star Wars, E.T.) and Hans Zimmer (Inception).
