The daughter of an exiled Iranian writer, comedian Shappi Khorsandi’s upbringing has been in no way conventional.

From mental illness to opium dens, it’s all gone on in the Khorsandi household and in her latest show Shappi recounts it all the only way she knows how – with wit, warmth and hilarity.

A familiar face from Have I Got News For You, QI, and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow among other TV shows, the 41-year-old took a year off to have a baby in 2013.

When Shappi returns to the Kent stage at Folkestone Quarterhouse this week, she will be reflecting on all the positives as she celebrates the haphazard, zigzag way life is taking towards her dreams. Shappi promises to introduce the audience to the friends, family and total strangers who have helped her on her personal Yellow Brick Road.

Shappi Khorsandi is at Folkestone Quarterhouse on Friday, September 26, at 8pm. Tickets cost £15. Visit www.quarterhouse.co.uk or call 01303 760750.
