Grab your continental snacks, choose your favourite Eurovision playlist and get ready to celebrate this year’s biggest night in music.

With the Eurovision Song Contest being held in the UK for the first time since 1998 on Saturday, May 13, there’s never been a better excuse to throw a Euro-pop party.

After the victory of Kalush Orchestra in Turin last year, Ukraine would traditionally be the host country for this year’s event.

However, due to ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the country is unable to host the contest and, thanks to Sam Ryder’s Space Man securing second place for the UK in 2022, this year’s competition will take place in Liverpool.

While many households will be tuning into the singing show from their sofas on Saturday night, there are a number of events taking place in Kent for those who want to really make an occasion of it all.

The Astor Theatre in Deal will be putting on a special Eurovision edition of Starry Starry Eyes, a musical comedy show from London theatre group the Free Association.

The improv performers will be imitating celebrities and singing pretend songs, all made up on the spot, for a night of side-splitting spontaneity.

Once the show has finished, the theatre will then broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest live from Liverpool.

This isn’t the only place you can watch the live final on the big screen.

Two cinema chains - Picturehouse and Odeon - will be screening the grand final of the music competition live into theatres around Kent.

Picturehouse in Ashford and Odeon in Maidstone, Chatham and Tunbridge Wells will all be welcoming audiences to take a seat and watch, sing and dance along to the show along with other like-minded fans.

And, for those who really want to party the night away, Folkestone’s Harbour Arm is putting on a night to remember for Eurovision lovers.

Events space and food plaza the Goods Yard will kick things off with a fun-filled performance from drag artist Dita Garbo.

Dita will keep audiences entertained until the main event begins, which will be shown on the outdoor cinema screen.

This event begins at 7pm and is free to enter.
