Two of the UK’s biggest Britpop bands are joining forces for a riff-fuelled co-headline tour.

Manic Street Preachers, who have been nominated for almost every accolade under the sun from BRIT Awards to the Mercury Prize, are currently touring with fellow rockers Suede - and the pair are coming to Margate.

As part of this year’s Margate Summer Series - which has seen performances from Bryan Adams, Limp Bizkit, Madness and Simple Minds so far - the two groups will play a headline set each on Dreamland’s Scenic Stage.

The outdoor concert will be filled with music from both band’s back catalogues.

Since forming in Caerphilly, Wales, in 1986, Manic Street Preachers have sold more than 10 million albums worldwide and achieved two UK No. 1 singles, If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next and the Masses Against the Classes.

Their impressive career has seen them headline Glastonbury Festival, win four BRIT Awards and collaborate with the likes of Massive Attack and Kylie Minogue.

After the release of their debut self-titled album in 1993, Suede were considered one of the country’s ‘top four’ Britpop bands of the decade alongside Oasis, Blur and Pulp.

The record, along with 1996’s Coming Up and 1999’s Head Music, reached the top of the UK Album Chart and singles such as Animal Nitrate, Stay Young and Trash became huge hits.

The two giants of British music will come together at Dreamland on Friday, July 19 with tickets still available here - but they’re not the only guitar-wielding stars coming to Margate over the weekend.

The following night, fans can catch punk band Idles take to the stage, fresh off of their controversial set at Glastonbury Festival last month.

The Bristolian five-piece have climbed the ranks of the country’s rock charts and racked up an Ivor Novello Award and two Grammy nominations.

They are currently on a nationwide tour to celebrate their fifth studio album, Tangk, which was released in February.

Idles will be playing their open-air headline show in Margate on Saturday, July 20. You can book tickets online here.
