A noughties boyband is kicking off the August bank holiday weekend with a huge headline concert.

Busted, known for hits like Crashed the Wedding and Year 3000, will perform at Dreamland as part of the Margate Summer Series, bringing more than 20 years of hits to the seaside town.

Pop rock trio Busted are performing at Dreamland this August

The trio is made up of guitarist Charlie Simpson, songwriter James Bourne and bassist Matt Willis, who also hosts the new Netflix series Love is Blind UK alongside his wife and TV presenter Emma Willis.

The band first rose to fame with the release of their debut single What I Go To School For in 2002.

The pop-rockers went on to release a number of hit singles including Crashed The Wedding, Who’s David and Year 3000 before announcing their split in 2005.

However, in 2013, James and Matt formed the supergroup McBusted with members of McFly, with whom they wrote some of their early songs, and performed hits from both bands’ back catalogues.

The six-piece also recorded a self-titled album of new material together in 2014.

In 2015, Charlie Simpson returned to the band and the original members of Busted reunited to tour the UK.

They then released their first album together since 2003, Night Driver, the following year.

Last year, the band completed a nationwide arena tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary, including sell-out shows at the O2 Arena in London.

Busted will be at Dreamland on Friday, August 23. You can book tickets online here.

The music continues over the long weekend with a concert that takes club anthems and turns them into stunning classical numbers on Saturday, August 24.

Ministry of Sound Classical will see a 30-piece orchestra reimagine some of the world’s biggest dance tunes, all with unique harmonies and instrumentals.

There will also be support from Roger Sanchez, Fat Tony, Danny Rampling and more. You can book tickets online here.

James Arthur, who won the X Factor in 2012, is performing an open-air headline concert in Kent

Finally, rounding off the bank holiday is former X Factor champ James Arthur.

It’s been 12 years since the performer won the ITV singing competition and, since then, he’s released a string of singles in his own right, including Say You Won't Let Go and Rewrite the Stars, and has been nominated for two BRIT Awards.

The Middlesbrough-born singer will perform on Margate’s Scenic Stage on Sunday, August 25. You can book tickets online here.

For his Dreamland concert, James will be joined by Kara Marni and Siobhan Winifred.
