Call the Midwife tours return to the Historic Dockyard Chatham from March to October

Drama returns to the dockyard as the site gears up for another season of its much-loved Call the Midwife tours.
Fans of the BBC show can visit some of its most well-known sets at the Historic Dockyard Chatham from Wednesday, March 1.
The tours will run until October this year and cost £27 per adult. You can book tickets online here.
Follow in the footsteps of characters such as Nurse Trixie, Sister Julienne and Dr Turner and explore the show's filming locations on a 90-minute walking tour.
The tour takes visitors through the cobbled streets of Poplar, which actually line the dockyard’s ropery, and stops off at buildings that have featured in the show throughout its 11-year run.
Visitors can see Thunderbolt Pier, where Trixie shared a tender moment with a suitor at what looked like a London dock, and the HMS Cavalier, which has doubled as a fishing trawler, cargo ship and transport vessel throughout the 12 series.
Visitors can also snap a photo in front of the Poplar Maternity Home and London Hospital.
The exterior of this building, where much of the show’s action takes place, is, in reality, the dockyard’s Admirals Offices.
Other notable locations included on the tour are the Grosvenor Hotel, Chummy’s Hill and Rakesby Street Homeless Shelter.
Each tour is led by a costumed midwife to help set the scene and put guests right in the heart of the show.
Helen George, who plays Nurse Trixie, spoke last year of the cast returning to film at Chatham after Covid restrictions were lifted.
“It has become a bit of a holiday,” said the 38-year-old actress. “It's always nice to reconnect as we have been filming there [at Chatham] for so long, it holds so many memories for us.
“I think the show grows from the space we have at Chatham. We can do these massive wide shots and all the lovely crane shots of the docks and other things that really make this show.”
The tour, which has been overseen and approved by Call the Midwife producers Neal Street Productions, also includes props and costumes from the show.
Once the tour is finished, visitors can stop off at the Ropery Shop where there is a selection of Call the Midwife memorabilia.
Ticket also includes admission to the dockyard itself, so visitors are free to spend the remainder of their day exploring the historic maritime attraction.
