Christmas starts at Kings Hill this weekend with a carol service, lights switch-on and fair.

The celebrations start on Saturday, December 10, with the area’s first carols around the Christmas tree next to the Control Tower in Liberty Square at 5pm, when children from the three local schools will sing.

Liberty Property Trust has provided a 22ft Christmas tree, with the lights being switched on at 5pm.

Donations of new single fitted sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers are being encouraged for the Pilsdon Community in West Malling, which helps people in crisis and the homeless, and new toys, for all ages, for the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal. The Spitfire pub will be serving mulled wine and mince pies after the service.

On Sunday, December 11, there’s a Christmas fair in the community centre between 2pm and 6pm, with a funfair, carols, children’s activities, food market, warming drinks and an indoor shopping fair.

Next week there will be a Christingle service on Sunday, December 18, at 4pm in the community centre and a Scratch Nativity Service, with Christmas crafts, at the Discovery School on Christmas Eve at 4pm.
