A huge classic car show celebrating all things transport will be taking over a town centre for two days.

The Faversham Festival of Transport boasts a sprawling display of vintage cars, buses, motorcycles and commercial vehicles across the market town.

The festival brings together activities for both families and petrolheads, including free bus rides, memorabilia stalls, face painting and live music.

The festivities kick off on Saturday, May 18 with an impressive display of buses and commercial vehicles.

There will also be exhibits from the City of Canterbury Model Railway Society and the Kent Community Railway Partnership, as well as a series of tractors lined up at the town’s Standard Quay.

Throughout the day, there will be free vintage bus rides taking visitors around the historic town of Faversham and the local villages, travelling past landmarks like the Shepherd Neame brewery and the medieval Abbey Street.

The town will also be putting on three different markets - the artisan market in the Alexander Centre, the outdoor Charter market and the Best of Faversham market.

If that’s not enough, the second day - Sunday, May 19 - is when the main car and motorcycle display will be pulling up.

There will be vintage steam vehicles arriving in convoy before setting up shop outside Shepherd Neame and a huge collection of classic cars, rare models and high-performance vehicles.

There will also be an autojumble, food and drink stalls at the ‘pit stop’ in the Central Car Park and live music from the Ragged Bandits and Phil Mace on the outdoor stage in Preston Street.

The festival is free to attend and there will also be a free park and ride service running from Macknade in Faversham into the town centre during the weekend.
