Nobody puts baby in the corner at a new series of events introducing classical music to children.

Bach to Baby, organised by Rochester musician and mum-of-two Alex Callanan, who brought it to Kent earlier this year, is to launch in Maidstone.

The critically acclaimed classical concert series aimed at mums tired of Cbeebies, will be at All Saints’ Church in Mill Street.

Bach to Baby was founded in 2011 by pianist Miaomiao Yu who was fed up not being able to take her children to the sort of quality classical concerts that she enjoyed as a musician.

In Kent, regular classes already take place at Canterbury, Rochester, Dartford and Whitstable.

In Maidstone, Swooning Bassooning on Tuesday, September 29, will treat youngsters to the sounds of instruments including the bassoon between 10.30am and 11.30am.

Alex, who has played with orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic and BBC Symphony Orchestra, said: “Music plays an important role in the development of children’s imagination, memory, cognitive skills and musicality.

“So I believe quality live music should be available to all, including the babies and young children of north Kent!”

Miaomiao added: “It’s about Mozart and Bach, feeding and crying, and dancing to music – all of it.

"We take care of everything a family needs, a warm welcome, baby friendly facilities and not forgetting fabulous coffee, so every concert is a memorable treat.”
