There was a wet start at the Kent County Show this morning as visitors made their way to the Showground, near Maidstone.

Despite the early rain, there are high hopes the event will pull in plenty of paying customers over its three days as this year’s show is brimming with things to see and do, including livestock, horse riding, dog agility, fairground rides, outdoor workshops, flower displays and food stalls.

The event attracts thousands of visitors every year, with crowds expected to build over the weekend at the Detling site.

There will be showjumping competitions in the Equine Village, a Grand Parade of Livestock, the K9 Aqua Sport splash zone, a vintage vehicle display inside the Exhibition Hall, live music and the Produced in Kent food village - and that’s just a taste of what visitors can expect over the weekend.

DJs Garry Wilson and Andy Walker from kmfm will also be presenting live from the Kent County Show today.

Make sure you keep an eye out for the pair and pick up a free flag from the inflatable kmfm dome if you spot them. You can then colour in your flag and submit a picture of it here to be in with a chance of winning an Amazon voucher.

Across the weekend, kmfm will continue broadcasting live from the show to give listeners a flavour of the busy event.

The show takes place from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7 and is open from 8am to 6pm. Last entry is 5pm.
