JAM on the Marsh festival returns to Romney Marsh, Hythe, Dungeness, Snargate and New Romney this July

Soak up the best of Kent culture as JAM on the Marsh festival returns to celebrate live music, theatre, arts and poetry.

The 11-day multi-arts festival, which is entering its ninth year, takes place in the unique landscape of Romney Marsh and spreads throughout Hythe, Dungeness, Snargate and New Romney.

The festival kicks off with a spectacular performance from Kent-based touring outdoor theatre company, Changeling Theatre. The group will perform their hilarious summer production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest.

Following on from opening night will be a number of artists performing show-stopping live music.

Performing at this year’s JAM on the Marsh will be acappella group VOCES8, singing duo Lucy Crowe and James Gilchrist and Michael Collins with the London Mozart players, to name a few.

There will also be plenty of local talent on the bill, including the Ashford Youth Jazz Orchestra and children from St Nicholas and Brookland primary schools, who will perform with the musicians of Onyx Brass, conducted by Lydd resident Rebecca Lodge Birkebaek.

Art lovers won’t be left out of this year’s festival, as there will be an incredible six exhibitions on display this July.

Visitors can admire a community project by Yolanda Houston of New Romney’s Teach Me studio, Angela C Smith’s breathtaking sculptures and John Ballard’s large-scale abstract oils, among others.

Don’t miss a whopping 11 days of music, theatre and art at this much-loved festival.
