Boxing legend Frank Bruno will be visiting this weekend.

One of the most well known and recognisable boxers in British history, the former British professional boxer who won the WBC title in 1995, will be at Bluewater on Saturday, November 4.

Famed for bouts including against Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis, he also coined the phrase “You know what I mean, ‘Arry?” Like Henry Cooper before him, he remained a popular celebrity after his retirement from the sport.

He went on to be diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2003, and his illness was well documented.

In his new and deeply personal book, Let Me Be Frank, he talks about his battle with mental illness, his time inside a mental facility and his long road back to stability. Now ready to talk about the condition, his story offers his own perspective on living with bipolar disorder.

“Ever since I retired, one thing has stood between me and being the man I want to be - my mind," he said. "

In the end it saw me locked up against my will and pumped full of so many drugs I didn’t have the strength to stand. When I am in the grip of my bipolar disorder and the drugs are pickling my brain I am unable to stand for days. But I will always get back up. It is the only way I know.”

He will be at Waterstones in Bluewater signing copies of the book and meeting fans on Saturday, November 4 at noon.

Fans need a copy of the book to meet Frank and are advised to arrive early.
