A Kent city has announced that it will kick off its festive season with the return of an annual light parade.
The Canterbury Christmas Light Parade will take place on Friday, November 10 and will see more than 100 light-up costumes created by students from local schools.
This year’s theme is Aladdin, to tie in with the Marlowe Theatre’s panto starring former Strictly pro Kevin Clifton, and there will be six huge characters from the family show taking part in the parade.
The cast of Aladdin will also be waiting in the Dane John Gardens for the big finale including live sing-along tunes from local musician Robbie White.
There will also be a new route for this Christmas, including a stroll past Canterbury Cathedral where the performers will illuminate the streets outside the historic landmarks.
As in previous years, the parade, which is organised by the Canterbury Business Improvement District, will be led by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury Jean Butcher.
The Bloco Fogo Drumming Band and a host of Christmas characters will also be joining the event, which begins at the Westgate Towers from 6pm.
The city’s traditional Christmas market in and around Whitefriars will also open from 10am on the same day.
There will be wooden huts and gift, food and drink stalls for visitors to browse before and after the parade.
