The group, best known for hit single Good Enough, will top a line-up of tribute acts and local bands at the free festival.

Since their first single in 1991, the Britpop four-piece have performed at Glastonbury Festival and released six studio albums.

They will be joined on the bill by Oasis, Stevie Wonder and Dua Lipa tribute acts and Kent-based bands Skabretta and Beer Pressure.

Gravesham Borough Council’s Lauren Sullivan said: “The Riverside Festival is a fantastic day when people of all ages can come together with family and friends and enjoy this free music festival with fun activities and great food and drink.

“I’m especially pleased to welcome our headline act, and I’m sure local people and visitors to the borough will be out in numbers to enjoy a day out by the Thames.”

The festival programme also includes family activities such as rock climbing, laser tag, crazy golf, a funfair and children’s performances on the bandstand in Fort Gardens.

Young visitors can also take part in party games, meet baby dinosaurs, watch a giant bubble show and create their own temporary tattoos.

There will be an emphasis on nature at this year’s festival, with Creepy Claws’ animal display, a talk on rewilding bees from the horticulture team and a lesson on recycling from Roxy, the waste team’s eco-friendly dinosaur.

The event also boasts a selection of food and drink vendors from the local area.

Sweetalicious will be serving up pick and mix, Ebbsfleet FC Fleet Feast will be dishing up hot food and there will be a range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available from Stroppy Mare Horsebox Bar.
