Ferry operator DFDS is offering up to 50 per cent off products in its duty-free shops to help customers beat the cost-of-living squeeze.
The discounts apply when shopping onboard its cross-Channel ferries or in its new port duty-free shops at Calais and Dunkirk.
DFDS’ duty-free range includes premium spirits brands, beer and wine, plus fragrances, electronics and toys.
Current savings (compared to UK prices) include:
- 24 x 33cl of Heineken – five cases £64.95 - save £42.55
- 6 x 75 cl Jam Shed Shiraz – four cases £83.76 – save £90.24
- 1 litre Kraken Black Spiced Rum – four for £63.96 - save £71.08
- Mix and match litre bottles of spirits – four for £40 – save up to £77.10
The new post-Brexit duty-free rules mean travellers can bring back 18 litres of wine, 4 litres of spirits, 42 litres of beer, and £390 of non-alcoholic goods.
Steve Newbery, Commercial Onboard Director at DFDS, said “Duty-free shopping is back, but many people don’t know the savings they could make. You no longer pay tax on products that you bring back from France.
“With UK prices going up, there’s no better time to explore the great deals in our duty-free shops. When you travel by ferry, there’s no baggage limit, so you can fill your boot with great value duty-free products, making a huge saving on UK supermarket prices.”
DFDS has made it even easier for travellers to buy their favourite duty-free goods. It runs a day return coach service to its shops at Calais and Dunkirk, with pick-up stops at Maidstone, Ashford, Folkestone, and Dover. An additional coach service from London will begin from April. Tickets are just £30 return and the service runs from Thursday to Sunday.
For those who like to browse and buy online, the company’s Reserve and Collect service offers the chance to select your duty-free goods online, then simply sail across the Channel and collect from the duty-free shops at Calais or Dunkirk.
It’s possible to make huge savings of hundreds of pounds per person on a trolley full of duty-free, including premium beers, wines, and spirits in DFDS’ duty-free shops.
