Extra dates have been added to a tribute to the TV comedy Fawlty Towers, which will return to the Gulbenkian Cafe in the summer.

Called Faulty Towers – The Dining Experience, the Australian production company behind it has sold out venues in 20 countries, including Canterbury’s Gulbenkian Theatre.

But fear not, there will be a second chance to catch the show later in the year. Two performances for Sunday, March 16, were quick to sell out, so to cater for demand, the show will return on Wednesday, July 2, and Thursday, August 14, at 7pm.

Only one-third of the two-hour show is scripted, so anything can happen as audiences take their seats in the Faulty Towers restaurant.

Waited upon by Basil, Sybil and Manuel, this is highly improvised and site-specific comedy theatre at its best. Expect all the best gags, shambolic service and a 1970s-style three-course meal freshly prepared by the chefs.

This new take on the comedy was created in Brisbane in 1997, using the name Faulty instead of Fawlty, and made its international debut in 2008 at the Edinburgh Fringe, where it has sold out every year since.

It opened a residency in London’s West End in October 2012 and continues there still.
