A popular music festival is set to be held online for the first time next month.

The Tenterden Folk Festival, which would have seen morris dancing and live music in the streets of the town this autumn, will instead be held over Facebook, YouTube and Zoom.

There will be pre-recorded videoed concerts and some live events on Zoom, while other social media including Twitter will be used to promote them.

Acts lining up to take part in the virtual event from Thursday, October 1 to Sunday, October 4, include Barrie and Ingrid Temple, Broomdasher, Morrigan, Jeff Warner and Brian Peters.

There had been fears the event would not go ahead at all this year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, and the dates have already been set for next year's event.

The committee said there would be online sing-a-rounds, song sessions and the popular Cinque Ports Sea Songs and Shanties Session would also take place via Zoom.

They extended a particular thank you to Peter Collins for his technical knowledge and time to help make the event possible.
