The touring festival, which has previously welcomed visitors in Maidstone, has confirmed that it will return to the county with a new venue and a new programme of chefs and musicians for three days.

Peter Andre, best known for ‘90s hit Mysterious Girl, and disco group Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge are among the names billed to perform at the festival.

There will also be a live set from the Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra with vocalists and DJs.

Masterchef champions Thom Rhodes and Dhruv Baker, alongside Masterchef The Professionals winner Alex Webb, will be cooking their signature dishes across the weekend.

“I'm really looking forward to the Foodies Festival tour,” says Essex-based chef Alex. “It’s my third year in a row, and I’m glad to be returning! I can’t wait to celebrate the local food and drink in the region. I’ll be cooking some of my favourite dishes, such as Lobster Toast and Chilli Jam, as well as some classics from Masterchef!”

“Music, food and warm evenings, the perfect combo,” adds singer Peter Andre, who will be cooking alongside some of the professional chefs as well as performing his hit songs. “I’m looking forward to performing my favourite songs on the music stage, and I’m thrilled to also be cooking live in front of an audience with some brilliant chefs. I love getting creative in the kitchen at home and trying out new dishes.”

Local cooks, including Patrick Hill from Thackeray’s in Tunbridge Wells, who has been nominated for Chef of the Year in the Kent & Medway Food & Drink Awards, and Alex Yates from the 2AA Rosette-awarded restaurant Bowleys at the Plough in West Malling will be hosting live cooking demonstrations.

There will also be sweet treats in the cake and desserts theatre, a kids’ cookery school, drinks masterclasses, wine tasting, an artisan market, global street food, a firepit BBQ, chef battles, chilli eating competitions and fairground rides.

Visitors can also enjoy entertainment, including live music from daily headliners, cover bands, choirs and tribute artists, as well as the silent disco, street performers and drum troops.

Festival director Sue Hitchen said: “We are thrilled to bring our celebration of amazing food, drink and entertainment to Tunbridge Wells, and we are proud to support local artisan producers and restaurants. We very much look forward to welcoming the community.”

Foodies Festival will take place from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7 at Dunorlan Park.

Tickets start from £21 per day or £38 for the weekend and can be booked online here.

Money from the ticket sales and donations will go towards Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH) and Crisis, a charity helping to solve UK-wide homelessness.
