It promises all the fun of the fair, plus a chance to step back in time to the days of steam travel - and you can get tickets for a fraction of the price.

The popular Festival of Steam and Transport at Chatham Historic Dockyard, which will be held on the Easter weekend, Easter Sunday, April 21 and Easter Monday, April 22, will feature street entertainers and steam punks, plus a free funfair with vintage rides and food stalls.

The dockyard is offering tickets at the budget price until Thursday, February 28.

Tickets are just £5 for annual ticket holders, instead of the price of £10.80 from Friday, March 1, and £12 on the door.

And tickets are £10 for non-annual ticket holders - or £17.55 from Friday, March 1, and £19.50 on the door.

The festival will also lay on live music with BBC Radio Kent, featuring artists who have recently appeared on the Kent Sessions, through the day.

The site has just under one mile of line to operate demonstration trains, and besides the steam there will be hot rods, vintage and military vehicles, kit cars and motorbikes.
