Strictly Come Dancing star Ore Oduba will get to wear the heels this time when he dances on stage in the cult musical Rocky Horror Show, which comes to the county from this week.
The show, penned by Richard O'Brien back in 1973, opens at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury tonight, and runs until Saturday, July 31.
Actor, presenter and Strictly winner Ore will star as Brad Majors in the legendary musical which is finally back on tour after many months when theatres could not open.
He said: “Like everybody, I’ve missed the stage so much and Rocky really is the perfect show to welcome audiences back to theatres. It’s such an iconic musical with songs that everyone knows, so I’m sure the Rocky fans will be desperate to do the Time Warp again!
"I’m so excited to get started and tour the country with our production... just got to remember to pack my stockings.”
Joining Ore and returning to the cast as Frank is Stephen Webb and Philip Franks as The Narrator. They will be joined by fan favourite Haley Flaherty, who has also starred in Mamma Mia and Chicago, as Janet.
Ore added: "People want to laugh and be uplifted and to be able to forget about everything for a couple of hours. It’s all about ‘Leave your inhibitions at the door - we haven’t got time for that’.”
The Rocky Horror Show tells the story of Brad and his fiancée Janet, two squeaky clean college kids who meet Dr Frank’n’Furter by chance when their car breaks down outside his house whilst on their way to visit their favourite college professor. It’s an adventure they’ll never forget, with fun, frolics, frocks and frivolity.
After initially playing to an audience of just 63 people in the Royal Court’s Theatre Upstairs in 1973, it became a huge hit and in 1975 was also made into a film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which took more than $135 million at the box office and is still shown in cinemas around the world.
It will be the reopening show for the Orchard Theatre, Dartford, from Tuesday, August 31 until Friday, September 3.
And it will be at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley next year, from Monday, January 17 until Saturday, January 22.
