Comedy singer and organist John Shuttleworth wants to share memories of his favourite past weekends.
However, a typo on his poster (weekend has become ‘wee Ken’) means Sheffield’s local hero John is obliged to spend his evening in Margate paying homage to his next-door neighbour, the diminutive Ken Worthington.
In this new show, festival favourite John will perform classic tunes such as Two Margarines, Disaffected Youth and I Can’t Go Back To Savoury Now, as well as newer ditties like Whatever Happened to Vince Hill?, Midweek and Relatives In Rotherham.
John is the creation of comedy actor and musician Graham Fellows, whose other incarnations include Brian Appleton, Dave Tordoff and Jilted John, with whom he had a top five chart hit in 1978.
John Shuttleworth’s Lounge Music will shortly be available on DVD as will a book of The Shuttleworths complete radio scripts.
Catch John in action at the Theatre Royal Margate, on Friday, February 13, from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £16. Call 01843 296111. More at theatreroyalmargate.com
