More than 200 real ales and ciders will be on offer as the Kent Beer Festival gets underway for the 42nd year on Thursday, July 18.

The festival, which will be held at Canterbury Rugby Club in Merton Lane North for the second year running and is the second oldest beer festival in the country, will showcase the growing number of micro breweries in the county and beyond.

But the festival, which runs until Saturday, July 20, isn’t just about the beer - there will also be live music and family-friendly entertainment too.

Alongside Kentish produce, there will be a host of bands performing a wide range of music from rock, blues, gypsy jazz and ska, a string quartet, a ukulele band and children’s entertainers.

There is even a covers band called The Bones - made up of orthopaedic surgeons from the William Harvey Hospital. A shuttle bus service to the venue will operate throughout the festival opening hours from Canterbury bus station.
