The Folkestone Triennial is a chance to see world class art on your doorstep - and this weekend is your last chance.

One of the UK’s largest public art exhibitions, Folkestone Triennial: The Plot runs until Tuesday, November 2, giving people the chance to see some thought-provoking art for free, and all outdoors.

There are more than 20 newly-commissioned public artworks from beach huts to sculptured heads, which have joined the 74 permanent works in the town all year round.

Artists were invited to use Folkestone as their ‘canvas’, choosing public spaces to create striking new art.

They include Jacqueline Donachie’s Beautiful Sunday, a dance floor and film; Rana Begum’s colourful beach huts; Pilar Quinteros’ sculptured head, Janus’ Fortress: Folkestone on a cliff top and Morag Myerscough’s Flock of Seagulls Bag of Stolen Chips based on local people’s words to describe the area.

Each time the Triennial is held, some works stay on in the town. It is not know yet which new ones from this year will be selected.

Over the years the event - now in its fifth edition - has been visited by thousands and included works by artists including Tracey Emin and Yoko Ono. Find out more here.
