Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy is among the literary alumni at the Folkestone Book Festival, from Friday, November 14, to Sunday, November 23.
Among the themes will be Richard III, the First World War and rock ’n’ roll legends.
Poetry takes centre stage this year and Carol Ann Duffy will be giving an exclusive reading of her beautiful verses.
The Poet Laureate is known for her ability to address issues such as oppression, gender, and violence, in an accessible language that has made them popular in schools.
She will be at the Quarterhouse on Wednesday, November 19. Tickets cost £10.
Other writers appearing at the festival include former children’s laureate Michael Rosen on the opening night and Michael Frayn, the novelist and playwright best known for the stage farce Noises Off.
The programme also features a film depicting the Battle of Waterloo and the Oscar-winning movie Elizabeth staring Cate Blanchett.
There will also be a live, improvised theatre production based on the work of Jane Austen.
This year it is easier than ever to enjoy the diversity of the festival with the Folkestone Book Festival Pass – unlimited access to all events for £120.
