How do you see Mote Park?

Images of the 450-acre jewel in Maidstone's crown were snapped over the last year through the eyes of the park users, featuring the lake, trees, animals living there - and, of course, the odd dog taking a morning walk.

The best images, entered into the annual Mote Park Photography Competition, which is run on the park's Facebook page and sponsored by The Mall Maidstone, have been chosen.

This year the competition was split into three categories, with a top prize of a £100 Mall shopping voucher for each.

The judges took quite some time deliberating over the 12 finalists in each category to decide the winners.

Winning the Landscape category was Mark Checksfield's well-lit shot of the lake.

Roger Wilkins' truly autumnal scene won him the Seasons category, while a macro shot of a butterfly and red ants won Val Butcher the Wildlife category prize.

There was also a Highly Commended prize for Claudine Bedford, with her close-up of some frosty autumn leaves. She will receive a £50 Mall shopping voucher.

The three winning images will go on display in the Mote Park café soon.
