Celebrate 800 years since the creation and seal of the landmark document, Magna Carta, at PENSHURST PLACE with educational trails, traditional medieval crafts, archery demonstrations and falconry displays.
Meaning ‘the Great Charter’, Magna Carta is one of the most important documents in history because it established the principle that everyone is subject to the law, even the king, and guarantees the rights of individuals, the right to justice and the right to a fair trial.
History comes to life at Penshurst, near Tonbridge, the chance to experience first-hand what it feels like to wear chainmail from the period, and younger children can enjoy storytelling. themed to history of the Baron’s Charter.
