The Southern Model Show returns to Headcorn Aerodrome

Jets, boats, cars, tanks and helicopters are getting ready to take over one of Kent’s most historic sites this weekend.
But there will be plenty of room for all of them as they are all minatures, descending on Headcorn Aerodrome for the annual Southern Model Show.
The family show starts at 9.30am on both Saturday and Sunday.
Held in association with the Maidstone Model Flying Club, model fans will be able to see off-road two wheeled and four wheeled buggies, cars, tanks and other fighting vehicles, trucks and motorbikes performing some fast and furious racing.
The flying programme will be exhilarating, varied, and designed to illustrate the full range of model flying in the UK and Europe.
Through a series of set-piece displays, pilots will have the opportunity to display their aircraft in a historical context. D-Day will feature prominently as will the Battle of Britain and the finale will be truly spectacular.
And the action isn’t just in the air and on land. Paddle steamers, battleships, lifeboats and submarines will be taking to the high seas - or the large water tank.
If you’re a real enthusiast, you’re welcome to bring along your own models to demonstrate, or perhaps pick up a bargain at the bring and buy stand.
Food, drink and trade stalls as well as other activities for less model-minded members of the family will also be available.
Plus, there’s also camping on offer and night model flying events if you fancy making a weekend of it.
The Southern Model Show is at Headcorn on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4. Parking is free.
