An exciting and diverse exhibition featuring original paintings, hand produced prints, photographs, textiles and ceramics from Kent artists opens on Saturday.

The annual Open Art exhibition at Lovelys Gallery in Margate provides artists of all ages and abilities the opportunity to display their work to the public, possibly for the first time.

The theme for the 2014 event is Edge, and it has attracted more than 30 exhibitors including up-and-coming creatives and artists making names for themselves across the county.

All items are for sale to the general public when Open Art launches on Saturday, August 30. The free exhibition then runs until Saturday, September 27.

The gallery's Caroline Lovely said: "Open Art returns following an overwhelming response to Lovelys' call to artists earlier this year. Contemporary and traditional artists of all ages and abilities were invited to submit work for inclusion in the show which resulted in hundreds of submissions from artists across the South East.

She added: "The exhibition attracts hundreds of visitors each year. Artwork by over 30 local artists were chosen for the show including Virginnia Scadeng, James Hunt, Serena Sussex, Wendy Mills, Alex Foster, Paul Smith and Margaret Percival."
