The new year is a great time to consider trying one of many parkrun events held across the county each Saturday morning at 9am.

Whitstable parkrun

All parkruns are 5k in distance and are free to enter. Kent parkrun ambassador Jacky MacDonald says: “The 5k distance is just right to encourage the couch potato and also for athletes to check out their pace. Friends, families, dogs, children in buggies, athletes, joggers and walkers can take part – it’s fully inclusive.”

All are welcome: joggers, dogs and babies in pushchairs

Parkruns take place at the following locations:

Ashford - Victoria Park, Jemmet Road
Canterbury - The Pavilion, Parkwood Road, University of Kent
Maidstone - Lock Lane, Sandling
Margate - Palm Bay, Cliftonville
Medway - Great Lines Heritage Park, Brompton Road, Gillingham
Pegwell Bay - Pegwell Bay Country Park, Sandwich Road, Ramsgate
Shorne Woods - Shorne Woods Country Park, Brewers Road, Gravesend
Tonbridge - Tonbridge Juddians Rugby Club, The Slade
Whitstable - Seafront promenade, Tankerton
Folkestone - The Leas, west of the Leas Cliff Café Tunbridge Wells - Dunorlan Park, Pembury Road
