Open air cinema by Adventure Cinema to come to Maidstone and Deal this summer

Open air cinema is set to make a return this summer in a socially distanced way to two Kent towns.
Adventure Cinema is promising a new socially spacious tour, offering guests the chance to enjoy the magic of the movies stopping in Maidstone and Deal later this year.
The open-air events invite friends and families to pack their favourite picnics, pick their cosiest blankets, and watch films under the sun and the stars, with open-air screenings scheduled for Deal Town Football Club in St Leonard's Road on Friday, June 4, and Whatman Park in Maidstone on Thursday, August 26 and Friday, August 27.
Under the Government's roadmap for the easing of restrictions, no earlier than April 12, among the attractions able to reopen will be drive-in events such as cinemas, theatres and other performances.
Movies on offer include singalong screenings of Grease and The Greatest Showman at Maidstone, while screenings for Deal have not yet been released.
On arrival, groups will be guided to their picnic space by stewards, who will seat people safely away from other groups.
Other measures include wide aisles to the left, right and centre of the event space, allowing people to safely move around, and regularly cleaned, individual toilet units with hand sanitising stations outside.
Co-director Ben Lovell said: "We had great fun putting on the UK’s biggest ever drive-in cinema tour last summer, and now we can’t wait to travel all over the country once again, this time with our open-air cinema season. Just like with the drive-in shows, we’ve worked very hard to ensure that these events are safe and lots of fun for all the family. "We’ve got some amazing films to show in some truly incredible spaces, and we’re excited to offer guests two things they may have desperately missed in recent months: the cinema and the great outdoors.”
The 18-acre Whatman Park will show the Greatest Showman singalong (PG) on Thursday, August 26 and the Grease singalong on Friday, August 27.
Tickets start from £14.50 plus a booking fee and there is a money back guarantee if the events cannot go ahead.
