Rock fans seeking a refund for tickets to now-cancelled Ramblin' Man Fair festival have been asked to be patient by organisers and ticketing platform Eventbrite.

In a statement yesterday announcing the decision to scrap the classic rock show due to be held at Mote Park in Maidstone in July, organisers told disappointed ticket-holders they would be able to get their money back from the point of sale at Eventbrite.

However in the last 24 hours numerous would-be attendees have taken to the festival's Facebook page to bemoan the fact refunds are not currently available.

Asked about the process for delivering refunds to punters, organisers of the event pointed in the direction of the ticket-selling site.

"We assume their systems are catching up and everything will be resolved," they said.

When we contacted Eventbrite, however, they sought to place responsibility for control of refunds on the shoulders of the festival promoters.

A spokesman for the American firm said: "We are sad to see Ramblin' Man Fair cancel their 2021 event and can understand the immediate questions around refunds from attendees.

"We politely ask attendees for their patience while we are working towards a fair outcome..."

"We ticket millions of events each year and strive to ensure all parties are treated fairly when something doesn’t go as planned.

"The organisers of Ramblin' Man Fair control refunds, and Eventbrite can work with them to make those happen. We politely ask attendees for their patience while we are working towards a fair outcome for all impacted attendees."

Organisers say the decision to scrap this year's three-day festival, due to take place on July 16-18, was taken because of a host of complications caused by the ongoing pandemic.

Swedish rockers Europe, who brought the world the 80s classic The Final Countdown, had been announced as headliners back in December.

"Refunds can be accessed via point of purchase on Eventbrite and details of potential rollover and dates for 2022 will be released in due course," a statement confirming the cancellation said.
