It‘s not every day that a Grammy-award winning artist rocks up at your local pub garden, but that’s what residents of Knockholt can expect this summer.
Peter Buck, the guitarist and co-founder of American band R.E.M, will be performing in the back garden of the Three Horseshoes, near Sevenoaks, next month.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician is currently touring with two of his other bands, the Minus 5 and the No Ones, which includes a date in the Kentish pub.
The Minus 5 is the new project formed with fellow R.E.M tour member Scott McCaughey, who played on the road with the chart-topping band from 1994 to 2011.
The two also joined forces with Norwegian indie rockers Frode Stromstad and Arne Kjelsrud Mathisen to create the No Ones.
Both bands are now touring together, playing two headline sets each night at venues in London, Manchester, Cardiff and, of course, Kent.
R.E.M formed in 1980 and became known for their huge hits such as Losing My Religion, Everybody Hurts and Shiny Happy People.
The band achieved the No. 1 spot in the charts with their albums Out of Time and Monster and won a number of accolades over their decade-spanning career, including BRIT Awards, NME Awards and three Grammys, before disbanding in 2011.
With R.E.M, both Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey played to fans all over the world, including a legendary set at Glastonbury Festival in 1999.
They will now be playing at the edge of the North Downs in the garden of this community pub, which serves homemade food and local beers.
Peter Buck will be at the Three Horseshoes in Knockholt on Wednesday, July 5 with the Minus 5 and the No Ones.
You can book tickets online here.
Doors open at 5.30pm and the show starts at 6.30pm.
