Rock festival Ramblin' Man Fair will not go ahead this summer, organisers have announced.

The rock music event, which was due to be held for the fifth time at Mote Park in Maidstone from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19, with a line-up including Lynyrd Skynyrd, has been cancelled as a result of the current restrictions.

In a statement organisers said: "It is with great regret, but with a resigned air of inevitability, that Spirit of Rock have to announce the cancellation of this year’s Ramblin' Man fair.

"We had a wonderful set of bands booked to play but the ongoing Covid-19 situation and the UK government’s total lack of clarity surrounding mass gatherings and the newly announced quarantine period have made this a straight forward decision."

They added: "We wish to thank all the hardcore Ramblers out there who have steadfastly stood by us through this difficult time. We feel your disappointment but heartily welcome your support - there is quite simply no crowd like the Ramblin' Man crowd."

They added that they had also investigated a possible September option for the festival and a number of UK artists have offered to play over that period.

The event will now be held next summer from Friday, July 16, 2021 until Sunday, July 18.

In the next week ticket holders will be contacted about refunds, but organisers hope many will roll their tickets over to next year's event. Ticket holders who do so will be eligible for an extra night of live entertainment on Thursday, July 15.
