One of the biggest artists of the 1990s is bringing huge rock anthems to the coast.
Richard Ashcroft, former frontman of BRIT Award-winning band The Verve, will headline the outdoor stage at Dreamland as part of the Margate Summer Series.
The singer, best known for penning hits like Bittersweet Symphony, the Drugs Don’t Work and Lucky Man, broke away from the chart-topping band in 1999 and has had a successful solo career.
His tunes have seen him awarded the Ivor Novello for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and he has achieved six Top 10 albums as a solo artist.
In 2007, The Verve reunited for a sell-out tour and released their No. 1 album, The Fourth.
The singer will headline Margate’s Scenic Stage, an open-air performance space inside the vintage fairground, on Friday, July 12. Tickets are still available here.
The following night, Nile Rodgers and Chic will be bringing disco fever to the seaside venue for a sold-out show.
The six-time Grammy Award winner has sold more than 75 million singles worldwide, as both the co-founder of funk band Chic and his collaborations with other artists including David Bowie, Madonna and Daft Punk.
Chic, best known for floor-fillers such as Le Freak and Good Times, was formed by Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards in 1972.
The group went on to have two No. 1 singles and was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
Nile Rodgers and his band will be at Dreamland on Saturday, July 13 with support from Murder on the Dancefloor singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
