Strictly champ Joe McFadden is set to star in a Kent panto - oh yes, he is!

The former Holby City actor will appear in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Central Theatre in Chatham for almost four weeks over the Christmas period.

Actor and Strictly star Joe McFadden has been announced for this year’s Central Theatre panto

The performer, who lifted the Strictly Come Dancing glitterball with partner Katya Jones in 2017, will be throwing his weight around on stage as the giant’s fearsome henchman, Fleshcreep.

He will be joined by Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist and all-round entertainer Andrew Curphey as Jack’s sidekick Silly Billy and CBeebies presenter Katy Ashworth as the magical Fairy Fuchsia.

“I am so excited to play Billy in this year’s spectacular pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk,” says Andrew. “I know just how much Chatham enjoys their annual pantomime and I can’t wait to perform for you all. Christmas 2024 in Chatham is definitely the place to be! See you soon gang!”

Kent-born performer Alex Anstey will also return to Medway’s biggest panto as Dame Trott.

The family-friendly show kicks off on Thursday, December 12. Discounted tickets are available for opening night and can be booked here.

The show then continues until Sunday, January 5 and, on select dates, there will be BSL signed and relaxed performances.

Nina Gurung of Medway Council said: “It is never too early to start thinking about Christmas, and it is really exciting to see this year’s pantomime at the Central Theatre start to take shape with some of the brilliant cast members being announced. It is sure to be an amazing and magical show that children, and more than a few adults, across Medway will love!”
