Things to do in Kent: War and Peace Revival 2019 at The Hop Farm, near Paddock Wood

Attention! The War and Peace Revival is back with guns at the ready for a five-day festival of military history as well as vintage life.

Set to take place between Tuesday, July 23 and Saturday, July 27, The War and Peace Revival will be once again held at The Hop Farm, near Paddock Wood.

The yearly event offers something for everyone including showcasing thousands of old military vehicles, helicopters, weapons and uniforms that always delight the crowds.

Those visiting The War and Peace Revival will also be transported back in time as they watch incredible action-packed battle re-enactments – which includes full-scale choreographed battle to put you right on the frontline but through a safe and vehicle-free zone.

You can also check out some of the famous tanks, artillery, armoured and amphibious vehicles, cars, jeeps, bicycles, steam engines and motorbikes as well as emergency and commercial vehicles used during previous wars.

But it’s not just about vehicles and weapons.

The War and Peace Revival will also dedicated re-enactors providing a detailed and unique picture of life in conflict from WWI until the present day.

The Living History scenes will show the British living in trenches, GIs in Vietnam, Russians relaxing with an accordion after a hard day in battle and even Germans plotting their next moves.

Up above the festival, you can check out the iconic Spitfire and Hurricane performing daily flying displays.

The marquees will once again be brimming with all kinds of fascinating treasures including militaria, antiquities, vehicle parts, books, memorabilia, clothing, uniforms as well as

Those seeking a more glamour and some time away from the battalions and infantries can head to the hugely popular Vintage Village and its amazing marketplace.

There is so much to do including getting yourself a vintage hairstyle from the 1940s, stopping for some tea or a bite to eat and even learning how to jive from the professional dancers.

Over at the Home Front Area, you will become fully immersed into the world of 1943 Trentham Village and that of RAF Upper Trentham.

The area is a complete ‘pop up’ village dedicated to portraying British civilian life during WWII.

The village is also a great place to relax with a pint and some traditional British grub while there are also brilliant activities to keep everyone entertained - old and young!

The War and Peace Revival is also an educational experience and there is always so much more to learn.

This year, Authors Pavilion will again offer visitors the opportunity to meet leading authors and hear them talk about their exciting books and there is also the chance to go home with a signed souvenir.

And time sure does fly when you’re having fun!

Later in the evening, they’ll be cocktails in the Gentleman’s Marquee, the chance to have dinner at the Victory Marquee before then heading off to bop the night away at the Spitfire Bar with the amazing music from across the generations.

Access will be only for those wearing wrist-band passes.

Those wanting to do a spot of camping are also in luck but will need to book in advance.

Friday and Saturday night have always been special nights at the Victory Marquee.

In a change to previous years, tickets are no longer required and entry is free for all onsite visitors.

On Friday nights, the worlds of Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble will burst onto the stage with an irresistible new show that will leave fans euphoric.

On Saturdays, the prestigious Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra - dressed in immaculate 8th Army Uniform - will really get visitors in the mood as they perform the great sounds of a bygone age.

The War and Peace Revival runs from Tuesday, July 23 and Saturday, July 27, with gates opening from 9am each day.
