Award-winning writer, journalist and broadcaster Jay Rayner is coming to Kent for a one-off show.

Jay, best known as restaurant critic for the Observer, and resident food expert on the BBC’s One Show, will be talking about his latest book, A Greedy Man in a Hungry World.

Combining witty memoir, including growing up with his mum, famous agony aunt Claire Rayner, with investigative journalism, Jay’s book argues that the doctrine of local food is dead.

According to Jay, farmers’ markets are merely a lifestyle choice for the affluent middle classes and ‘organic’ has become little more than a marketing label that is way past its sell-by date.

He will be explaining why at Deal’s Astor Theatre on Friday, September 13.
