Game nights are completely underrated. They can be the perfect activity that can bring you together with your friends and experience some good old competition.

As a grownup, it can be hard to connect with your friends, especially when everyone is on different paths with careers, children and other responsibilities. Game nights are perfect as they can work around these different aspects. It's also a great option if you're on a budget, as all you need is your, some games and your friends. And potentially some great snacks.

So let's take a look at the perfect games to play with your friends.

Teen Patti

Now this is a lesser-known game, so you're probably wondering what is teen patti? Well, it's a card game that's also often referred to as Indian Poker. It's simple, which makes it perfect for game night and only requires a pack of cards. In this game, players are dealt 3 cards and the aim of the game is to have the winning hand. The card rankings for this game are very similar to other poker games. However, one of the reasons why Teen Patti is so popular is because of the strategy it requires.

Just because you don't have a strong hand, doesn't mean you can't win. By reading your players and bluffing, you may be able to still take the win, which can make for some interesting reactions from your friends at the table. Additionally, there's a variation of this game called Team Patti, this is where instead of playing as an individual, you're on a team. This can be a great way to work together and come up with new strategies.

Exploding Kittens

This is a quirky option for those looking for a more humorous approach. This game involves players drawing cards from a deck. However, you need to try and avoid the exploding kitten card. This would result in you losing.

The deck also includes other action cards which allow you to defuse, skip or rearrange the deck. This means you can have a more strategic approach. This is a great way to add some excitement to your get-together. Additionally, if you have friends meeting for the first time, or are hosting a games night for colleges, this is a simple but effective option as an icebreaker.

Werewolf/Mafia

Surely a game night isn't complete without your friends pointing fingers at each other and accusing them of being guilty. Well, that is just what these games do. In Werewolf, players are assigned roles as villagers or werewolves. The aim of the game is to find the werewolf (or werewolves) before they are outnumbered. Mafia is a similar version, but instead of identifying the werewolf, you're searching for the mafia.

It involves bluffing, reading other players and strategy on both sides. The team must work together without knowing exactly who is on their side. What's great is that you can get cards or play via a smartphone app.

Uno

This is another classic card game. Uno is an iconic game that's loved in many households around the world. It's also a game that's known to add a little spice to game nights, with the +2 and +4 cards known to cause upset around the table. However, it's all in good jest. Players are dealt cards and must play them based on their colour or number. There are also special cards that have different roles and change the pace of the game. To win, you must put down all of your cards. The fast-paced nature of this game makes it exciting for all players.

As it's very popular, it's also a great option as the majority of your guests at your night will be familiar with this game. You can even find themed uno cards that are inspired by your favourite things, for example football or movies for example. This can be a great way to enhance your experience even more.

The Game of Things

This is an option that provides a more casual approach to gaming. It's a similar approach to 21 questions, but with more of a structure. This game involves prompts such as 'things you shouldn't do at a wedding' or 'things you shouldn't throw off a building' or 'things dogs are actually saying when they bark'.

Each player will then provide an answer anonymously and players will take turns to read them aloud and guess which response belongs to each player. This is the perfect game to spark conversation among guests and even a way to bring people out of their shells and share their humour with each other. For players with a dark sense of humour, this is your chance to shock some of your friends.

Pictionary

This is a classic group game that's been loved for generations. In this game, players have to draw pictures to represent words or phrases. Your team has to guess what you're drawing. Timing is everything and being quick could get you some extra points. This is a fun alternative that is a little more active. It's also your chance to test out your drawing skills. Pictionary is also an easy game to set up.

All you need is marker pens and paper. If you're really prepared, you could even get a whiteboard to play on.
