A free festival is bringing tribute bands and vintage vehicles to a local park.
Dartford’s Big Day Out is a two-day family festival that will set up shop in the town’s Central Park and, this year, there’s a headline set from four-time BRIT nominees Toploader.
The group, best known for their 2000 cover of King Harvest’s Dancing in the Moonlight, will be taking to the main stage at this year’s weekender.
The Eastbourne-based band will be joined by a string of tribute acts performing hits by Harry Styles, Girls Aloud and the Beach Boys.
Kent-based band Beer Pressure, known on the pub circuit for their decade-spanning setlist of pop and rock tunes, are also set to appear.
This year’s event also features a steam rally, with dozens of vintage vehicles, steam engines and traditional machinery to be lined up on the lawn.
The second day of the festival will have more of a ‘chill out’ vibe with a line-up of local singers and entertainers suitable for families.
There will also be kid’s outdoor theatre, interactive street performers, giveaways, play areas and plenty of space to bring your own picnic.
A spokesperson from Dartford Borough Council said: “Big Day Out is a great opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy entertainment for all the family in the beautiful setting of Central Park.
“The team at Dartford Borough Council has worked hard to bring everyone what we hope will be a brilliant weekend that won’t break the bank to attend. We hope to see you there.”
Dartford’s Big Day Out takes place at Central Park on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14. Entry is free and there’s no need to book.
