The UK's first travelling rum festival is set to return to Kent for a second year, heading to a different venue.

The Rum Festival will be staged at the Shepherd Neame Brewery in Faversham on Saturday, October 12, after being held at the Kent Showground at Detling, near Maidstone, last year.

There will be more than 100 rums on offer, from ones visitors have never heard of, to old school favourites and cocktails as well as Caribbean street food and live music from Cuban dance band Mojito.

On arrival, visitors will be given a festival glass, which can be taken home, and a brochure with information on the rums on offer and facts about the suppliers.

Rums will be grouped into categories including modern, spiced and flavoured, aged as well as something different.

Drinks vouchers to taste the rums will be available from a stand in the main hall.

Festival founder Lucy Douglas said: “Last year Kent was a total surprise for us and was definitely memorable. We loved it, and I can’t wait for you to see this year's venue.

"The growth in the rum market and evolution in the variety of flavours and styles has been phenomenal over the last few years. I set up the rum festival as somewhere fun where they could try new and exciting rums whilst listening to live music, eating great food and being surrounded by good people."

Throughout the event there will be live entertainment and dancing, including steel drums and salsa.

All tickets also include a minimum of 12 free samples. Tickets cost from £12.50 plus a booking fee and include a minimum of 12 free samples. The event is for ages 18 and over.

Sessions run from 12.30pm to 5pm and from 6.30pm to 11.30pm.
