Ice skating in one Kent town in the run-up to Christmas will include a second rink this year.

SKATE Tunbridge Wells in Calverley Grounds, which launches on Friday, November 15, will have an outdoor ice rink, live music and food and drink on offer, as well as a second rink for two to four-year-olds.

Calverley Grounds' amphitheatre will be decorated with twinkling festive lights and there will be live music events, in conjunction with The Forum; local choirs performing on Sundays and wreath making workshops, with the rink staying open through to Sunday, January 5, 2020.

The Tiny Tots rink, sponsored by Childrensalon, will be open from 10am to 5pm daily and will have the traditional ice game Bavarian curling on the smaller rink from 6pm.

SKATE Tunbridge Wells will also have food and drink from the Polar Bar, Apple and Cor, and pop-ups serving pizza, crepes, doughnuts and sweets with and seating areas and mulled wine.

Cllr Jane March, from Tunbridge Wells council, portfolio holder for SKATE Tunbridge Wells, said:“The rink always looks festive and adds to the atmosphere in the town. The rink is very popular so put a date in your diary, book your tickets early. Join in the fun."

Main skating sessions will take place from 10am until 8pm, except on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day when the last skating session will be at 6pm.

Skate tickets are now on sale costing from £12.50 and £8 for children on Saver Sessions and £15 or and £10 for children on Standard Sessions, both including skate hire. Seal skating aids will cost £4.

Wheelchair users can enjoy the rink in their own wheelchair but must be accompanied by an assisting companion.

Father Christmas will also be in his cosy log cabin from Saturday, November 23 until Christmas Eve. Tickets are on sale now, and there will be a very limited number of tickets on the door.
