We've all re-discovered the joy of walking this year.

While you might not have considered taking part in a walking festival before, wouldn't it be great if someone picked out 50 walks to take you through some of the most picturesque parts of the county?

Get walking with some of the 50 walks on offer

This year's High Weald Walking Festival may have been cancelled, but the team behind it, led by the High Weald AONB Partnership, have been working with local Ramblers groups to create 50 carefully curated, self-guided walks from every corner of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which in Kent stretches from Tunbridge Wells and Tenterden and down to Rye and Heathfield in East Sussex and across to Horsham in West Sussex.

They are an opportunity to get off the beaten track, discover some hidden gems and explore the landscape safely, responsibly and at your own pace. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a newbie, there’s something for everyone.

How will it work?

Visit the festival website where there is a list and an interactive map showing the location and length of the 50 walks available and from this week you can download the walking route pdfs. They include clear directions and a map, and can be printed in A4 on a home printer.

Selected routes will also have .GPX files and virtual video guides to download. They’ll only be available for one month and will disappear on Thursday, October 1.
