Wild Rose film star Jessie Buckley is set to perform songs from her film, released today, live for the first time at a music festival in Kent.
The Irish actress, who stars in the country music film, which is in cinemas today, will perform well known songs from the movie at the Black Deer Americana music festival near Tunbridge Wells this June.
Among the songs she will perform will be Primal Scream’s Country Girl and country artist Emmylou Harris’ Born To Run at the festival in Eridge Park.
The gritty movie features Jessie Buckley’s character Rose-Lynn Harlan seeking out understanding and belonging as a modern-day outlaw. Festival organisers say the film’s themes resonate with its ethos and aesthetic.
Co-founders and promoters Gill Tee and Deborah Shilling said: "We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome the wonderful Jessie Buckley to Black Deer Festival.
"The music and culture this festival celebrates is rooted in authenticity and spirit and Jessie’s powerhouse performance in Wild Rose has this in spades.
"Country and Americana has never been more relevant and we’re delighted that Wild Rose is shining a light on the amazing singer/songwriters out there. There’s something very real about this music."
The festival, which is back for a second year, will celebrate all things Americana and will have seven stages, and will feature live acts as well as cinema experiences and food and drink.
The line-up already announced includes actor Kris Kristofferson, Billy Bragg and Band of Horses.
The festival runs from Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 23. To book tickets go to blackdeerfestival.com
