One of the UK’s biggest boybands will be playing a “brand new show” for Kent fans this summer.

JLS, who found fame on the X Factor in 2008, will perform a headline set of greatest hits on the Dreamland stage.

It’s part of this year’s Margate Summer Series, which has already seen the likes of Bryan Adams, Limp Bizkit, Madness and Simple Minds perform at the open-air venue.

Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes and JB Gill - who now lives on a farm in Sevenoaks - won two BRIT Awards and achieved five No. 1 singles after finishing as runners-up to Alexandra Burke on the ITV singing show.

They remained a fixture of the UK charts until they announced their split in 2013.

In 2020, the four-piece revealed that they would be reuniting for a new album, entitled 2.0, and a tour, which was postponed until October 2021.

The group will perform their latest show with “fresh elements” at Dreamland on Saturday, July 6 with support from Tinchy Stryder. You can book tickets here.

Kicking off the weekend ahead of the boyband’s return to Kent is singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti.

The acoustic performer is known for songs such as Soldiers Eyes, Candlelight and When We Were Lovers.

His latest album, Miss Italia, features a track with Australian artist Natalie Imbruglia and his previous two albums - Singing to Strangers and Europiana - both reached the top of the UK Albums Chart.

He will be playing his headline set on the Scenic Stage on Friday, July 5. Tickets are available here.

Kaiser Chiefs’ date in Margate has sold out

Indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs are the final band to make an appearance over the weekend.

The group, fronted by former The Voice judge Ricky Wilson, are visiting Margate on their Easy Eighth tour. They were originally set to perform at the venue’s smaller indoor venue in April but were bumped up to the Scenic Stage for the summer - however, tickets for this show are sold out.
