You know what they say - laughter is the best medicine, and it feels like we could all do with a tonic right about now.
Let some of the UK’s top stand-up stars put a smile on your face at these comedy nights that are sure to leave you belly-laughing…
BANGERS, Margate
This seaside comedy night has been in town for more than a year and is often a sell-out. The next night will feature two former Britain’s Got Talent performers, Robert White and Stefano Paolini, and Darran Griffiths who has appeared on Comedy Central.
Next event: Saturday, September 7 at Olby’s in Margate. Book here.
THE COMEDY CLUB, Ashford
More than 500 comedians have walked through the doors of this hotel over the 14 years that it has hosted its comedy club. You can just turn up for the laughs, or make a night of it with a two-course dinner and a bed and breakfast stay in the hotel as part of a ticket package.
Next event: Friday, September 27 at Ashford International Hotel. Book here.
COMEDY LOCK-IN, Faversham
On the second Sunday of each month, a three-hour comedy night comes to Faversham, boasting local talent and touring comics. Tickets are available on a ‘pay what you can’ basis, up to £10, or you can leave a donation at the door.
Next event: Sunday, July 14 at the Alexander Centre in Faversham. Book here.
FLYING HIGH, Queenborough
Sometimes it’s a comedy quiz, other nights it’s a stellar bill of stand-up stars, but either way, you know you’re in for a good chuckle. With seven shows already nailed this year, the team at Flying High are, well - you get it, it’s in the name. You can usually find the events at the Flying Dutchman pub on the Isle of Sheppey, but sometimes they branch out to Maidstone and Faversham.
Next event: Thursday, July 18 at the Flying Dutchman in Queenborough. Tickets available at the bar or by calling 01795 663648.
THE FOLKESTONE COMEDY CLUB
You can usually catch some fresh faces here, with rising talent often making up the bill in Folkestone. However, every now and then you’ll get a big name thrown into the mix, with the likes of Ed Gamble, Terry Alderton and Jody Kamali having performed there this year.
Next event: Saturday, October 5 at Radnor Park Bowls Club in Folkestone. Book here.
HA-HABOUR, Ramsgate
Despite the latest event being cancelled, the past six months have seen this regular comedy night sell out so it’s bound to come out swinging next time. It’s in the perfect spot on the harbour for an al fresco drink and some freshly caught seafood before the show.
Next event: Friday, July 12 at the Queen’s Head in Ramsgate. Tickets available from the bar.
LIVE AT THE MARLOWE, Canterbury
Being that it’s housed inside one of Kent’s biggest theatres, it’s no surprise that the Marlowe’s regular comedy night attracts world-class laughter-makers. Performers like Tom Allen, James Acaster, Sara Pascoe and Nina Conti have all headlined in the past, while the next star of the show is set to be the Masked Singer host Joel Dommett.
Next event: Saturday, June 29 at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. Book here.
MARINA COMEDY CLUB, Dover
It’s probably the priciest event on our list, but then again it does come with a slap-up three-course meal. Enjoy your dinner and drinks while you watch some top-notch comedians at this hotel overlooking the English Channel.
Next event: Saturday, October 19 at the Dover Marina Hotel. Book by calling 01304 203633.
OUT OF BOUNDS, Sevenoaks

Next event: Friday, September 13 at Dunton Green Social Club. Book here.
ROCHESTER COMEDY CLUB
It’s a fairly recent addition to Kent’s comedy circuit, but this regular event has become a hit with locals who want a laugh. This summer, the bar will host some previews ahead of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, including a performance from Balls of Steel and GB News host Mark Dolan.
Next event: Monday, July 15 at the City Wall in Rochester. Book here or buy tickets from the bar.
UNDERGROUND COMEDY CLUB, Herne Bay
This underground venue has a real old-school comedy club feel, with the stage tucked away in a den below the seafront promenade. There will be top comedians as well as a trendy bar offering draught beers, cocktails and botanical gins.
Next event: Friday, June 28 at the Pier Ceylon in Herne Bay. Free entry, but must be booked here.
WOODVILLE COMEDY CLUB, Gravesend
